Fully-Integrated LIFE: How The Word Works
(Part FOUR)
so that they may adorn
the doctrine of God our Savior
in every respect
(Titus 2:10)
Again we see it. We have to let the Word of God work on us
because our lives with either attract people to the Word of God or turn them away! If it doesnt work for us, why should they want it?
It seems odd that we can adorn the doctrine of God! We cant add to it; we cant make it bettertheres no need to make it better! But, somehow God has set up the work of His Kingdom in such a way that He uses our lives to demonstrate to others that His ways are right!
Even in the Old Testament, God challenged His people to walk with Him and show the world that His ways are right. God has always planned for His People to be a light to the world.
Adorn
The word ADORN is from the Greek word kosmeo from which we get our word cosmetics. The Thesaurus compares it to: decorate, embellish, garnish, etc. In his commentary on Titus, John MacArthur says:
The root idea of the term is that of arranging something in proper
order to give it symmetry, comeliness, and beauty. In ancient times it
was used of arranging jewels in a brooch, necklace, ring, or crown in a
way that best displayed the beauty of the gems.
As the Church, the people of God, our lives are to be attractive and influential in a world that doesnt know Christ. We dont attract them by our clever strategies and outreach programs. People want to know Jesus when they see the Word working in our lives
changing our attitudes and our approach to living.
Father,
Let the working of Your Word show through my life. Let Your ways and Your will work through me, in such a transforming way, that people are drawn to the fragrance of Your life.
In Jesus Name, I seek You, Amen.
